Dematec Water & Power, Automation & Robotics is an Adelaide based company, specialising in engineering and automation. The company sought out SouthernXposure, after admiring Eco Connection’s branding in a working capacity.

Initial client requirements
The initial Scope of Work provided by the client outlined the need for a base logo (‘Dematec Solutions’) as well as logo variants for the company’s three planned ‘divisions’, namely Dematec Automation, Dematec Robotics and Dematec Water. Having been disappointed with a previous, costly attempt by a graphic designer to generate these logos, Dematec’s directors were eager to get the job done right.
Strategic Branding
We explained to Dematec that our ability to generate a potentially powerful brand like that of Eco Connection, is due to our unique marketing approach, known as ‘Strategic Branding’. Strategic Branding incorporates the development of a marketing differentiation strategy, which is facilitated through a comprehensive marketing audit, research and analysis process. This leads to the development of visual elements which support and enhance the power of the strategy, thus building a potentially powerful brand.
Initially, Dematec’s directors were somewhat resistant, as they had already developed a marketing plan, and found it difficult to comprehend how SouthernXposure could help them, given that we knew little about their industry. In order to reassure them that we could help, we reviewed their marketing plan, and highlighted significant room for improvement. As a result, Dematec decided to proceed with the Strategic Branding process.
We embarked on the process, starting with an intensive, three-hour marketing audit interview, followed by substantial further research into Dematec’s marketing environment (competitors, customers, stakeholders etc). Analysis of the resultant findings, instigated the development of four detailed recommendations, which would significantly change the company’s marketing direction and organisational structure. These recommendations were presented to the client in a comprehensive report format.
The clients were surprised and delighted with the comprehensiveness and relevance of the Marketing Strategy document, and were renewed with enthusiasm about their company’s ability to achieve desired growth objectives. The following testimonial was voluntarily issued.

Upon conclusion of the Marketing Strategy development phase, the strategy was relayed to our Creative Director, who then visited Dematec’s premises to gather inspiration.
An initial series of logo options was developed, all of which reflected the Marketing Strategy. Through an ongoing feedback/refinement process, we developed the final logo, which reflects and supports the strategic marketing direction, and stationery. The direction is also communicated through the recommended slogan ‘the best people; engineering the best solution’.
Additional project
As an additional, recent project, SouthernXposure developed a business award submission on Dematec’s behalf, for the SA Small Business Champion Awards – Trade Services category. Dematec was announced to be one of three finalists in the category.

Impending projects
Upon completing the Strategic Branding process, we look forward to working with Dematec to determine a Scope of Works with regard to website development (strategy oriented), building and vehicle signage, marketing materials and ongoing marketing support.
